Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Flourish Studios, in conjunction with the Institute For Arts Entrepreneurship™, is pleased to continue the Flourish Artisan Program Speaker Series with Chicago-based arts entrepreneur Jessey Jansen. Jessey will be appearing at Flourish Studios on Thursday June 10th at 7 pm to speak on the subject of how to launch a for-profit arts business by embracing non-profits and social issues. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Jessey is the creator of the Little Ladies of the World product line and MyPOP, a touring exhibit of two-dimensional art that tackles some of the contemporary issues surrounding poverty. Both campaigns utilize art and design as a catalyst for positive social change, a mission that has led her Little Lady Studio to partner with the humanitarian organization CARE as a way of giving back to the community as she continues to expand the reach of her brands and business. Jessey has been a self-employed creative mind in one form or another since 2000 and will speak about how she effectively sustained a profitable business by embracing the non-profit causes that were most important to her. In a year and a half, she has leveraged the social community to not only build a brand from scratch, but achieve the personal fulfillment of doing good, proving that being a successful entrepreneur doesn't mean having to compromise your values and integrity in pursuit of the elusive dollar. She will share her story and the lessons that she learned along the way, which might help likeminded artists and business owners. The Flourish Artisan Program is a new initiative that offers visual artists low-cost space rental on Flourish's high-end retail floor and provides them a brick and mortar home as they build their arts business. Participants in the program receive exclusive access to resources and training, such as the co- sponsored speaker series, which continues monthly. As co-sponsors of the event, the Institute For Arts Entrepreneurship continues to spread awareness on the issues and possibilities surrounding arts entrepreneurship in Chicago. The IAE is currently offering a slate of summer intensives designed for artists of all disciplines to get out of their comfort zone and learn bite-sized pieces of business know-how to help steer their ideas in the right direction. Applications are also currently available for the two-year program, which starts in January 2011. This event is free for participants of the Artisan Program and $10 for the general public. Flourish Studios is located at 3020 N Lincoln Ave. For more information on the Flourish Artisan Program Speaker Series or to reserve a seat, visit www. ICanFlourish.com or call 773.281.8140.
