Any interest in seeing the new Matisse exhibit at the AIC?

I bet I'm not the only member of this Meetup that desperately wants to view the new Matisse exhibit currently showing at the Art Institute of Chicago. I've heard and read only rave reviews about it, and I for one look forward to viewing the paintings, drawings, collages, etc. that the curator (actually a grad school acquaintance of mine!) has borrowed from other institutions.

Here's the link to the AIC info about the exhibition, including costs:

The only time (besides during the day) that the group could reasonably meet is Fri. afternoon, when the museum is open until 8pm. AIC is still open until 8pm on Thurs. as well, but only members can view the Matisse exhibit from 5-8 pm. I'm tempted to suggest that we schedule a meetup to see the exhibition on members-only night, but I doubt that all who want to view the exhibition have memberships. Or do most of us in the Club indeed have an AIC membership?

Here's a plug for the AIC membership: it's $80 for one person, and even at that basic level, the member enjoys lots of discounts. Also, remember that the "suggested donation" for the museum (and that's not counting the ticket cost of special exhibitions) is $18 for adults. Basically, if you attend the AIC only 3 times a year and view a traveling show (like the Matisse), you've recouped the cost of the membership, which is also tax deductible.

Let me know what you think about the idea of seeing the Matisse exhibition.

Best wishes,
Nancy
