OK, we have had nine Meetups organized so far, one by the founder of the Group and eight by me, plus four more in the pipeline. It is time to start filling in some holes in the Creative Social Club's repertoire. The biggest gaping hole to me is we need someone who totally understands music (I am tone deaf), is deadly passionate about it, is current but also diverse, open-minded, and friendly (no need to be snobbish, not even with American Idol fans), and is willing to inspire (cajole and shame are fine too) members to participate, sell (to venue managers and potential sponsors), manage, manage some more, and execute Meetups revolving around music. Chicago is a treasure trove of music (and of just about everything else) and musical events in Chicago should be exploited to their fullest to energize and bring together members of our Club and like-minded individuals throughout the Chicago Area.
I am looking for someone who is the opposite of me but can get along with me (as a change-of-pace voice), who really wants to organize kick-ass musically-oriented Meetups (better than the other music Chicago Meetup Groups), who wants to LEAD-ORGANIZE something for Pitchfork or Lollapalooza, and is IDEALLY A TWITTERER, as I am finding Twitter to be a great new marketing channel, especially in sniping specific invitees whom we want to join in our events. That person will ideally not propose more than a monthly Meetup to the Metro, for that might be a demographic mismatch with huge swathes of our membership, but otherwise I would like to be hands-off. Self-starter who enjoys leading events for the joy of it is a must. I may not even attend your events; all I want are musical Meetup offerings that are good times, hip and sophisticated, well organized, and have a bit of an edge. (An occasional large helping of edge is great too.) If interested, you can email Me the Organizer in private. |
