I have a meetup group based in Waukegan and Gurnee called "Waukegan, you're awesome!". If any of you live within reasonable driving distance, please let me know. I'm definitely willing to have one meetup each month dedicated to us creative types (or more if it is well received).

My group has the simple theme of facilitating social interaction between the area's 20- to 30-somethings, regardless of relationship status. We been dining out, to a movie, to a theme park, and to bars and grills. On Tuesday we'll be going to a free outdoor concert by the beach.

Suggestions welcome. Cheers,

PS-If enough people really look forward to keep this meetup alive, message me. I'll take over if no one living closer to Chicago is willing.

The Creative Social Club (CSC) is the largest multi-disciplinary, eclectic Meetup Group dedicated to the arts in Chicago, organized exclusively to facilitate socializing and the shared enjoyment of life. Comprised of current and aspiring creative professionals, creatively oriented individuals, and enthusiasts of human creativity, the CSC meets regularly to celebrate diverse expressions of the human experience – encompassing visual arts, literary arts, performance arts, and more – while taking advantage of the exceptional social, cultural, and entertainment amenities that Chicago offers as a world-class city. Nearly shut down when its Founder left the group in July 2009, the CSC has grown to over 1,000 members with over 50 Meetups, excellent ratings, and positive reviews.

Although our members include a core of accomplished creative professionals, participation in the Creative Social Club is strongly encouraged for any individuals who have a healthy appreciation for human creativity and enjoy socially and positively engaging other people who share the same passion. Members tend to be smart, sociable, laid back, and happy people. Along with its sister group, the Good Times Institute (GTI), the CSC endeavors to be "well-organized and relaxed", with "fun, friendly, smart people to be around", as described by one of our group reviews. We try to do things just a little differently from other Meetup Groups – more personal, less formal/reverent, unconventional, and innovative/risk-taking. Membership is FREE as Meetup is our labor of love, and we are also cost-conscious in organizing Meetups with starving artists in mind. Our motto is "Be Creative. Be Social". If you are worried that you are not creative enough to join, just be more social. And remember: Membership in the CSC is free, but you only enjoy its full benefits if you participate.
