Subject: [CreativeSocialClub] RE: [CreativeSocialClub]-euthanasia linkThis email below is slightly unclear. I've not yet attended your meetups by the way, but.. are you saying you removed from the group this Joey guy who sent the link to the Jack Kevorkian satire article? I would like to know. I clicked on that link because I thought it was from a legit group, so the thought of being spamed or getting a virus from that is rather unnerving since I rely on my computer here for my income. This might mean that the meetup sites are really Not very secure. That's one concern.I hope you removed Joey because of the offensiveness of the article - and that is not a "conservative" response, it's a 'creative' & human response. As a middle aged person, I've watched a number of relatives die in agony - that only morphine helped to relieve some. I have worked for the cause of legalizing physician assisted suicide for terminally ill patients in the last 6 mths of their lives -- because I know from others' deaths & my own previous illnesses, of the incredible suffering great illness and proximity to death causes. I nearly died, agonizingly slowly over 2 yrs time, from an undiagnosed condition at the age of 20. My physical suffering was beyond words. I eventually got diagnosed which saved my life, but I have to care for my condition daily & you wouldn't know that by looking at me (no, it's not contagious!). Chances are it may kill me in a horrible fashion when I get much older & frail. I already know how the death would proceed having nearly died from it once. So the issue of legalizing physician assisted dying for hideously suffering patients AT THE END OF LIFE - is an INCREDIBLY SERIOUS ONE.I'm not accusing anyone of anything as it sounds like this Joey guy was an "outsider" playing what he thought were pranks by mis-representing Jack Kevorkian. Probably you all don't see it as funny as I don't. But Kevorkian was a Hero to me because he made more public an issue almost EVERYONE of us will face - dying in severe suffering. Most people don't die easily. I know others with disabilities like myself who daily know that it eventually may kill them in a horrible way. One of them just died. The realities of life make the humor & creative things necessary! But not to hide from them. Part of being "Creative" is having compassion. I hope you all take the issue Joey made fun of seriously, since few of us get out of this life w/o suffering significantly. Physician help at that time might be the "God send" you pray for. Ending on that note - go have some fun now! Balance the light & the dark.

Date: Tue, 23 Mar 2010 12:01:00 -0400Since I am getting some Web site traffic and a few email messages after this morning's episode, I wanted to close the loop and provide closure on this morning's episode. Gene is a former member who sent an email this morning to the entire Creative Social Club mailing list saying "Sorry this group is just too weird for me." I emailed Gene to find out why he left. It turned out that Gene was offended by a Web site link on euthanasia that was posted in the Ideas section of the Creative Social Club Web site, by this user named "Joey", http://www.meetup.com/members/11714436/. Unfortunately for Gene, I had to explain that "Joey" was a spambot who had left the same or similar link on the 27 other Chicago Meetup Groups that he had joined overnight, and that I had removed "Joey" from the Club. Despite clearing up that misunderstanding, I do not believe Gene will be returning to the Creative Social Club.Lessons to be learned for all of us:
- Do not click a link just because it is given to you.
- Try to not jump to conclusions.
- Resist clicking that "reply all" button until you have thought through the message.
I honestly thought Gene left because he didn't like me playing Iyaz.-----Original Message-----

Subject: Re: [CreativeSocialClub] RE: [CreativeSocialClub]It's surprising Gene is interested in art or anything creative for that matter. Last time I checked this meetup was called the Creative Social Club not the conservative social club. LOLJackOn Tue, Mar 23, 2010 at 9:43 AM, Tristan <[address removed]> wrote:

I guess Gene didn't like my selection of Blips this morning!Gene's parting shot to the entire Club gives me the chance to remind everybody that our CELEBRATE SPRING Meetup / Tweetup is coming up this Saturday night, 6 - 8 PM, at Murasaki Chicago, http://www.creativesocialclub.com/calendar/12726330/. We have over 60 people signed up so it will be one of our biggest Meetups yet, including some very cool people from my adventures (and misadventures) on Twitter. Murasaki Chicago is a wonderful Japanese lounge and this will be an outstanding opportunity to meet other creative, social people!Enjoy the rest of your week,Jester-----Original Message-----
