I'd like to make a general suggestion to do somethings not strictly downtown, especially on a Friday nite (traffic & parking). I'm in Des Plaines (suburb) - close to the city, but not close enuf to public trans. Parking is INSANE in the city & unaffordable in a lot of ways.  Maybe you can plan some events for Sat eves at places where there is some definate parking that is affordable. Maybe some of the low budget theatres in Chicago. Mayor Daley will hurt business coming into Chicago with this parking meter fiasco.

     Just some suggestions. If you can find anything in the burbs, that's OK too, but I know that's not plentiful. Or open Mic things or reasonably priced blues clubs etc. There are some good Blues Clubs in Palatine also (suburb). I Love the city of Chicago, but parking & traffic are True obstacles, espec on weekend nites & ESPECIALLY on Friday nites. Thanks.

Hey everybody,

I hope you are off to a flying start in 2010 and having a great weekend, despite the Arctic temperatures.

It is official. I have decided that our first Meetup of 2010 will be the February 5th First Friday at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). I was trying to get us a group discount into something edgier and grungier for February 6th, but we will have to rough it in the posh ambience of happy hour at the MCA.

There is simply no better way than to start the year than having your first Meetup in February. You all have a month to break your New Year's resolutions and tell me about them! We already have 23 "Yes" RSVPs ahead of this first email announcement, so it should be a great turnout. Get your ticket online now while it is still $11. See you there!
