Hey everybody,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Three items of note below.

Jester

ITEM #1

We have a Meetup tonight at Rumba, 351 West Hubbard, 8:30 PM. Thanks to everyone who has RSVPed; we have 28 "Yes" RSVPs so it should be a good turnout and a great time. We encourage everyone else to come out. All the details are here: http://www.creativesocialclub.com/calendar/11662620/

ITEM #2

Our Christin Baker, who is a founding member and Senior Fight Choreographer for Stage 33 Chicago, is organizing the "Developing, Writing and Producing for Film and Television Workshop" on Sunday, December 6th, at Stage 33, 3655 N. Kedzie Avenue, 10 AM - 1 PM. This sounds like an outstanding event for our members who are interested in film and television production:

"Spend 3 hours with veteran LA writer/producers Paige Bernhardt and Nancylee Myatt. These two have taught television writing and acting at the US Performing Arts Camps, UCLA and Pepperdine University. They bring their information and skills to Chicago to give writers, producers and directors tips for developing, writing and producing for film and television.

Topics include but are not limited to:

Treatments: How long they should be, format suggestions, and details.
Spec Scripts: Current trends, what’s being read, and how to get yours read.
Pitches: How to get a pitch, knowing who you are pitching to, materials you should bring to a pitch meeting, knowing how much of a script should be complete, and what to do if you are phone pitching.

Networking and Q&A Session"

All the details are here: http://www.stage33chicago.org/workshops.html

ITEM #3

I am still working on the next "regular" Meetup(s) of The Chicago Creative Social Club Meetup. On Thursday, I scouted a coffee shop in the River North area that is looking to sponsor our group, but that coffee shop may be too small. I would like to do a coffee interview with a Chicago Tribune media critic or a local literary agent...not sure yet whom I will get as I also need to work on sponsorship / venue. I am also working with a few of you on other ideas for Meetups during the next few cold, lonely winter months. In the meantime, I posted the following as a Meetup, even though this event is for the entire Chicago Meetup community. For full disclosure, I was bribed with complimentary admission as a Meetup Organizer:

Announcing a new Meetup for Chicago Creative Social Club!

What: Chicago Meetup Holiday Party

When: December 18, 2009 6:00 PM

Where:
John Barleycorn (Wrigleyville)
3524 N. Clark Street
Chicago, IL 60657
[masked]

After joining 25 Meetup Groups and not attending a single Meetup other than those I organize myself, the incentive of complimentary admission as Organizer has finally compelled me to meet the rest of the Chicago Meetup community and attend this year's Chicago Meetup Holiday Party at John Barleycorn-Wrigleyville on Friday, December 18th.

Actually, I had thought about attending it anyway as this sounds like a pretty good deal, especially if you buy your ticket in advance and even more so if you get in on the "early bird" deal. As I publish this Meetup, there are 64 Early Bird Tickets ($20) remaining, so hurry up, RSVP "Yes" to this Meetup, and buy your ticket at http://meetupholiday2009.eventbrite.com/.

Below is the very detailed event description by the organizer JD, copied and pasted directly, requiring no value-add whatsoever from me.

I HATE MEETING STRANGERS, WHICH IS WHY I BECAME A MEETUP ORGANIZER, BUT SINCE I AM NOT THE ORGANIZER OF THIS EVENT, I HOPE TO SEE AT LEAST A FEW OF MY CREATIVE SOCIAL CLUB MEMBERS JOIN ME AT THIS HOLIDAY PARTY. IF YOU DO BUY A TICKET, BE SURE TO RSVP "YES" TO THIS MEETUP.

Here are the details...

Parking Spots for sale at Taco Bell

We are offering parking spots for a fee at Taco Bell (1111 W Addison St, Chicago, IL‎) which is just north and west of John Barleycorn, Wrigleyville.

$5 plus ticketting fees ($6.11) will get you spot from 6pm to 10:30pm. This price is available until December 4th. After that, parking spots will go for $10 plus ticketting fees ($11.24). This is until all the spots are sold.

48 hour cancellation fee is in effect for these tickets as well.

Buying a parking spot does not give you access to the party. You still need to purchase an "Advanced Ticket" or "Early Bird Ticket" to attend. Only people who have purchased an "Advanced" or "Early Bird Ticket" will be permitted to buy a spot. All other tickets will be removed and refunded up until the 48 hours before the event (removed after that point.)
