Hey everybody,

I hope everybody is enjoying our chilly and rainy October indoctrination to fall and winter. I am in a great mood this Sunday evening as I have secured my fantasy football victory for the week, without having to wait for Monday Night Football. Also, I am delighted that we have some truly wonderful and interesting people in our Creative Social Club, and our membership continues to grow each and every week.

OK, enough preamble from me and down to real business. We have a Meetup THIS SATURDAY, October 17, at Andy's Jazz Bar. This event will be nothing fancy or complicated: you go to one of the most fun jazz bars in Chicago, order yourself drinks and perhaps some food to eat, meet some lovely new people, and listen to some great jazz. A few of us have already started to gel into a nice "core" group that provides continuity from event to event, but we are also a friendly, inclusive bunch that creates a comfortable, nurturing social environment for new members and attendees.

Our Meetup is officially scheduled at 4:30 PM, but it might be possible to avoid the cover charge if you show up earlier. ANDY'S HAS A $10 COVER CHARGE FOR THIS SHOW. Originally, I had set the Meetup time at 4:45 PM so that our group does not miss any of the first set. Then, I was told by one Andy's employee that if you show up before 4:30 PM, you can avoid the cover charge, so I set up reservations for 10 - 15 people under "Creative Social Club" at 4:30 PM. Later, I was told by a different employee that you have to "show up before the door attendant goes on duty" in order to avoid the cover charge, at approximately 4 PM. I will get more clarity from Andy's on this matter, and relay something more definitive to everyone in my reminder email later this week, but my current plan is to show up at 4 PM, avoid the cover charge if I can, and invest my $10 on a beer (or 1.5 beers) at the bar. Note that food service does not start until 4:30 PM.

The band is scheduled to perform from 5 PM until 8:30 PM. We have scheduled this Meetup such that we can hang out early and everyone has the option to (a) linger with the group or (b) accommodate other plans late on Saturday night. You just can't beat it.

As usual, we will have separate checks for drinks and food. We have reserved our own table or tables so ask the maitre d' for "Creative Social Club".

Please RSVP "Yes" only if you are reasonably certain that you will attend, so that we can work cohesively with Andy's to reserve / arrange the right number and configuration of adjacent tables.
