Flat Iron Arts Building
Hey, we have yet another AWESOME member suggestion! This one is for Hesperidian Productions' Awakening Arts Festival next Saturday afternoon at the Flat Iron Arts Building in Wicker Park. The suggestion comes from Jane Morson and Kristin Anderson of Hesperidian. I have named Jane, who hosted our Mad Men viewing party last fall and is one of the owners in Hesperidian, an Assistant Organizer, so we look forward to some great events with her team starting with this one. I will be at the event starting at 2 PM, so come out and join in the fun! Admission is FREE and no other registration is required; see instructions above on where to meet. Below are the press release and festival card:
Hesperidian Productions, a Chicago-based film, fashion, music, events and marketing company, is sponsoring the “Awakening Arts Festival” on Saturday, November 12th from 2 to 6 pm at the Flat Iron Arts Building (1579 N. Milwaukee Avenue) in Wicker Park. The event celebrates the release of Hesperidian Production’s first short film, “Awakening,” and incorporates the work of artists in a variety of media (theatre, music, visual arts and film). Admission is free.
Hesperidian Production’s six-minute short film, “Awakening,” was filmed in Chicago in April 2011 and has been submitted to national and international film festivals. “Mythology retains its power to excite and inspire artists and audiences,” according to Jane Morson, Executive Producer of “Awakening” and Vice President of Hesperidian Productions. “We were excited by the myth at the core of ‘Awakening’ and we hope the audience at our festival will be, too.”
Collaboraction will provide the performance and screening space for the Awakening Arts Festival in Chicago. Among the performers will be actors from Dream Theatre Company, Geopolis Theater Company and the Improvised Jane Austen Troupe, all presenting scenes from their own plays. Galleries within the Flat Iron Building will be open and musicians from a variety of genres will perform throughout the building.
“Collaboration with other artists is very important to our creative process and our future growth as a company,” explained Kyle Thomas, President of Hesperidian Productions. “Being in Chicago provides a wealth of inspiration. Bringing together so much talent for one event is extremely exciting.”

Is this event the one where you want me to bring my guitar? I'm glad to do that.
You say this is in room 222? It's just like the 1970's TV series room 222.
Yes, feel free to bring your guitar. I hadn't made the TV connection before but that must be why it sounded familiar.
Ok
Is this room 222 at the Flat Iron building?
Yes, it is. Musicians will perform in the Kevin Lahvic Gallery, Room 222 of the Flat Iron Arts Building. Film, Dance and Drama will be in the Collaboraction Gallery in Room 300 of the same building. Hope to see everyone there.
I have written assurance from Meetup.com that "if you do not RSVP, edit or comment on a Meetup, you should not receive emails regarding comments posted to that Meetup". However, IF any member who has NOT acted on tomorrow's Awakening Arts Festival HAS received comments on this Meetup, please let me know, as it would be a system bug. Nevertheless, all please direct any more questions by email to me as Event Host, to prevent people's email inboxes from being unnecessarily filled. Thanks!
Jane, i just called Chester. I managed to injure my left knee and it hurts alot today. I am unable to join you today. Chester reassured me they will have others in the future, which I appreciated. I hope to meet you after my health improves.
