CELEBRATE SPRING Meetup / Tweetup at Murasaki Chicago!
Hey, the first REAL weekend of spring is THIS WEEKEND! The Creative Social Club is having a Meetup / Tweetup at Murasaki Chicago TONIGHT, 6 - 8 PM to CELEBRATE THE ARRIVAL OF SPRING. So far, over 70 people have signed up*. Murasaki Chicago is a classy, ubercool Westernized-but-genuine-Japanese lounge, and we have it all to ourselves for the first hour. We get our own disc jockey, Murasaki Chicago will be offering us drink and appetizer specials (tickets for drinks and appetizers will be sold at the event registration desk), and there is a separate, soundproof karaoke booth for all you crooners out there. People pay beaucoup bucks for that booth, but we get it for free during our Meetup / Tweetup! I will be using the flat-panel displays at Murasaki Chicago to present some creatively oriented conversation icebreakers for everyone. And we will be "skill raffling" off a pair of passes to Chicago's gleaming brand new deluxe ShowPlace ICON Theater!
The CELEBRATE SPRING Meetup / Tweetup is a terrific way to celebrate the arrival of spring. You can use our event as a "happy hour" springboard for your own activities later that evening, or you can stick around with those of us who will probably (974% probability) hang out somewhere downtown afterward. (Actually, we already have a few ideas on that.) Now, sign up!
*This Meetup was formerly branded as "Conversation Salon #2: Saturday Night Fever", but I get the feeling that some people are still being flummoxed by the term "conversation salon". Nevertheless, this event is being designed to stimulate conversations and will count as Conversation Salon #2. The same topics from previous communications (e.g., Saturday Night Fever and other John Travolta's films) will be used as conversation icebreakers. Just come and see!

JesterEvent HostOrganizer+6 guestsWe definitely had a lot of no-shows. I wanted to push the boundaries of where this Meetup Group can presently go as a social club and I think we did that. The main thing is that attendees seemed to have a good time, and as usual the best time was at the end with the last people standing, this time in the karaoke room. We have some very good singers in this group. The venue was great, I enjoyed many of the attendees and I am thankful to everyone who made it. For me, the next steps are to go a little more hardcore creative and do smaller Meetups, and specifically reduce my responsibiliti
es as Organizer for an indefinite period of time. I just want to go to events and have a good time instead of worrying about all the moving parts involved with larger, more complicated, and more ambitious Meetups.
