Henri and I think the potential for rain kept away a lot of people, and as we ran soaking wet in the storm at 10 PM, we could not blame them. But we still had a great time. I just cannot believe people could stay away from the hot polka.

This is what Meetup is all about! People making social connections to just come out and have a blast with each other. Needless to say, we had one last night! If only the night were longer and folks didn't have to work this morning...and every place wasn't closing, we would probably still be out!

It was originally designed for me and Henri to just hang out, but Tristan and Kristen showed up, then Kristen called Andrea, and then Jack and this other fellow showed up, and then we were out until 4 in the morning. Needless to say, we had a blast. We have great Meetups, but our post-Meetups and non-Meetups are even better. We also discovered THE definitive Creative Social Club karaoke bar in Spyner's Pub, and I am very happy to find two new Assistant Organizers in Kristen and Andrea!

Out of all my Meetups, this is one where the group simply did not want to break up. We closed down the Chicago Brauhaus and I swear we could have gabbed all night at the Lincoln Square fountain. The dancing was hilarious. Of course, none of this is related to the original content of the Meetup, the Haywood Yards concert. Hope to see everyone again soon!

It was four lovely ladies enjoying the Art Institute with Henri and me. I actually had the opportunity to chit-chat casually with everybody instead of worrying about larger group dynamics as Organizer. Afterward, four of us -- I won't say who ;) -- wound up at the Bennigan's across the street and had a lively discussion, not about art. Hope to see everyone again soon!

We definitely had a lot of no-shows. I wanted to push the boundaries of where this Meetup Group can presently go as a social club and I think we did that. The main thing is that attendees seemed to have a good time, and as usual the best time was at the end with the last people standing, this time in the karaoke room. We have some very good singers in this group. The venue was great, I enjoyed many of the attendees and I am thankful to everyone who made it. For me, the next steps are to go a little more hardcore creative and do smaller Meetups, and specifically reduce my responsibilities as Organizer for an indefinite period of time. I just want to go to events and have a good time instead of worrying about all the moving parts involved with larger, more complicated, and more ambitious Meetups.

We had quite a few late RSVP changes and no-shows because of the 30-degree weather after Chicago was treated to some nice warm weather over the past couple of weeks. The group we had was actually ideally-sized for an art museum tour, and the people that met and stayed as a group seemed to have a great time. They are probably still out as I write this!

Wonderful. Inspirational. Tear-jerking. Motivation and empowering. It is timely. Especially in our economy now with joblessness--people losing hope. Lemonade encourages us to look at the gift and opportunity that being unemployed presents. I was deeply moved by the production and think it should be seen by others.
