SECOND UPDATE, MAY 6, 2010

Thanks to Nicole, I was alerted to the start time of the show now being 6:30 PM on the Hideout Web site. It was 6 PM when I checked the Web site on April 23rd. I will keep our Meetup start time at 5:30 PM. That means more drinking and kibbutzing for early arrivers and less rush for later arrivers, although be aware that the Interview Show does get packed. Also remember the $5 cover charge and note my rendezvous instructions: "Before the show starts, meet me at the bar directly behind the guy collecting the cover charge. After it starts, meet us on the left front part of the theater."

I have not decided what to do after the show. Factors that will determine this decision include:

  • Where all the attendees of our Meetup would like to go
  • Where Roslyn in particular would like to go, because I would like to hang out with Roslyn
  • My desire to be at a bar showing the Blackhawks playoff game, which Roslyn may not like biggrin
  • My desire to rendesvouz with my friend Mariza, which might be Trader Vic's, and that is even less likely to be a Roslyn bar
  • And last, but certainly not least, to wherever I can get a ride, since I will be without the benefit of a car (punchline)

FIRST UPDATE, APRIL 23, 2010

The details of the May 7th Interview Show are now online. For a while, I was worried that there would be no Interview Show for May, but there surely is! smile This episode is scheduled for 6 PM and not 6:30 PM as I previously anticipated, so I moved our Meetup up to 5:30 PM. You can probably get in if you arrive after 6 PM, but you may miss the start of the show.

The following is what is posted on the Hideout Web site, http://www.hideoutchi...

ORIGINAL MEETUP DESCRIPTION, MARCH 31, 2010

Have you been to The Hideout? Have you seen Mark Bazer's The Interview Show? Do you like it?

The Creative Social Club's general May Meetup will be The Interview Show on Friday evening, May 7th. There is no information yet on that particular night's edition of the show, but information on the entire series can be found at http://www.markbazer..... Basically, The Interview Show is like any television talk show except it is broadcast on YouTube and held live on the first Friday of every month at The Hideout. Bazer does a comedy routine at the beginning, interviews several guests on a variety of topics, and features a musical act and possibly another comedian. The Interview Show is one heck of a great live entertainment deal for the $5 cover charge. The show starts at 6:30 PM and lasts until 8 or 8:30 PM. The place is usually packed and for good reason. Go check the show's videos on YouTube to see for yourself.

Let us meet at 6 PM to celebrate the weekend with a few cheap but refreshing PBRs or Hamms and enjoy some chit-chat prior to the show. When the show is over at 8 PM or so, we can all decide whether to hang out at The Hideout's outdoor patio (maybe May 7th will be a super night weatherwise), grab some eats, and / or go elsewhere in the city. I would imagine a few of our attendees will be driving so there should be several options for after the show. For those who have dates or other plans that evening, The Interview Show is a perfect way to kick things off that will also give you the chance to say hello to other members of the Creative Social Club. For those who do not, the night will still be young.

The Hideout is a hipster haven located in what seems like an industrial park on Wabansia Street just east of Elston. There is parking and The Hideout is also accessible by CTA plus some walking. Basically, it is a dive bar with a small theater in the back at which The Interview Show is performed; the vibe feels more like a neighborly party than a bar. There are music and other events regularly featured. Do not be surprised to see a few more of our Meetups organized at The Hideout. For more information, visit http://www.hideoutchi...
